Gränsfors Bruks French Trade Tomahawk

Gränsfors Bruks French Trade Tomahawk
The French Trade Tomahawk is an accurate, functional replica of a vital part of Canadian history. Although this type of axe is today associated with First Nations (Indian) peoples, it actually started out as the European belt axe - commonly used throughout Europe as a handy, multi-purpose carrying axe.

Once Europeans arrived in North America, this axe became a highly useful and sought after trade item amongst the aboriginal peoples, due to it's multi-purpose design, which includes a handle that lends itself to easy replacement if damaged when throwing.

The tomahawk has a 6" long head with a 3” face that weighs 1 lb. It features a 19” rough sanded hickory handle, mounted in a tapered eye. It comes with a grain leather sheath.
