Badger's ash paddles are hand crafted, tough, and shock absorbent work horses that are 100% made in Canada. Ash provides a linear grain that provides an excellent balance of weight, strength and toughness.
All Badger paddles feature a fairly broad oval shaft, which provides gripping comfort and less fatigue over longer periods, as well as the ability to ascertain blade orientation while submerged from the orientation oval shaft. Our ash Badger Paddles are available in two blade configurations:
Badger Tail (a modified Beaver Tail) - features a deep and wide blade face that is capable of moving large amounts of water due to it's large surface area - perfect for prying strokes, or acting like a rudder. The Badger Tail shifts the volume of the blade slightly lower than a traditional Beaver Tail, which places the main "pull" of the blade in deeper waters - making for a more fluid stroke. Well suited for those looking for power and control.
Tripper (a modified Otter Tail) - featuring a blade that balances power, volume, fluidity, and is both quiet and aesthetically pleasing, the Tripper paddle is perfect for longer trips where a more lithe, streamlined paddle and stroke is needed.
All of our Badger Paddles sport a hybrid varnish/oil finish (varnished blade, oiled shaft and handle), as this configuration provides long lasting water protection for the blade, and a comfortable, and most importantly non-blistering, handle grip and shaft.
All our Badger paddles include a protective paddle sock for safe transport.
