Our extra-wide double-sided paddle provides two types of leather: a grain side, and a flesh side, for the application of compound (chromium oxide) to either, or both sides. Stropping with compound and leather is the last step in procuring a razor edge on your blade after sharpening - taking a sharp knife or axe edge to screaming sharp with only a few passes.
