Casstrom's Swedish stropping paste has been designed to be used in conjunction with a leather strop, and when used will remove any burrs on the blade, leaving a sharp, polished edge. While whetstones get edges sharp, stropping with compound takes that edge to razor-sharp levels.

Each grit has its own task:

  • Grey (coarse): Aluminium oxide that removes burrs and provides a coarse pre-polish.
  • White (medium): Aluminium oxide that polishes and removes small burrs. A good general choice if you only want to use one grit.
  • Green (fine): Chromium oxide paste that refines and polishes to an extremely sharp finish.
