About Hiking Packs
Hiking packs offer larger capacities than day packs, and also use an internal frame sheet and aluminum stay to transfer the pack’s load down the back, and on to the hips. This is key to carrying heavy loads long distances (unless you opt for a tump, like with our Frost River packs). Without a frame, a heavily loaded packs pull on the shoulders, and become less and less comfortable over time. A rigid frame, formed to the contours of the wearer’s back, allows for heavier load carries, longer hikes, and decreased fatigue - essential when doing multi-day hiking trips.
