The Gransfors Bruk Large Carving Axe was developed in collaboration with master craftsmen Wille Sundqvist and Onni Linnanheimo, and is designed as a superior woodworking axe. Double ground, for both right and left hand use, the Large Carving Axe features a long, swept blade with 4.5" inches of blade face, and the ability to choke up on the head for tight, controlled movements. The head is 2.2lb, and the 14.5" handle is purposely left uneven, to allow for increased grip and control.
Excellent axe, but may not be the best choice for beginner

This in amazing axe. The angle of the edge to the handle allows for proper and controlled sheer cutting for roughing out spoons, bowls, or cups. If you're new to carving a better choice may be the GB wildlife hatchet, as it's a lighter tool. This is a great axe to step up to if you get the bug, and the hatchet can graduate to backcountry or wood pile use.
