Bushcraft Essentials was started by Detlev Hoppenrath in 2012, after seeing hobo/twig stoves, and realizing their usefulness in the field, but recognizing that they were difficult to fashion on one’s own. Using materials and production facilities in Munich, Bushcraft Essentials launched their “Bushbox” model to much success, and followed up with the micro (EDC) bushbox, and a large ”XL” Bushbox stove.
Bushcraft Essentials considers itself a “social enterprise” - meaning that it’s overriding corporate concern is not profit maximization, but the well being of the human beings and the environment in it’s sphere. To this end, all stoves are manufactured in Munich, Germany, to the highest manufacturing specifications possible, and contain no plastics in the products or in the packaging - opting instead for cotton bags and cardboard.
Says founder and CEO Detlev Hoppenrath : "With our activities in the field of Bushcraft we associate the hope of being able to contribute to find more people to a healthy understanding of nature."

Bushbox XL StoveThe Bushbox XL stove is the largest stove in the Bushbox family, and features a fully connected, collapsable structure: all parts (including bottom tray and ash pan) stay connected, and fold flat into the stove when not in use. The Bushbox XL can support large pots and pans, and can use twigs, leaves, pine cones, and other organic matter as fuel - perfect when on longer outings where packing fuel can be cumbersome.
Bushbox XL Titanium StoveThe Bushbox XL titanium stove is just that: The one-piece, collapsable, wood, wood pellets, alcohol, charcoal, and hexamine compatible Bushbox XL stove, but now almost 40% lighter due to it's updated titanium construction. Same solid Bushbox XL performance - new lightweight version.
Bushbox XL Combination KitThe Bushbox XL Kit Stove features a BushBox XL stove, a heavy duty carrying case, two trivets and a universal grate: allowing use of organic materials (leaves, branches, twigs, pine cones) as fuel, as well as Trangia burners, hexamine tablets, wood pellets, or charcoal, making it highly flexible while being able to pack it easily in a canoe or backpack.
Bushbox LF Stick StoveThe Bushbox LF stick stove sits in the "goldilocks" zone between the smaller original Bushbox stove, and the larger Bushbox XL.

Bushbox Wood Slide AttachmentThe Bushbox Wood Slide attachment is a handy add-on to Bushbox XL and LF stoves, that reduces the need to constantly add wood while cooking. With the Wood Slide, the stove opening can be loaded up, and wood pieces will automatically slide down and feed themselves into the fire as existing fuel burns down. Ingenious!
