Niukka 20L Daypack

The new Savotta Niukka (Finnish for meager, or minimal) sports a clean, compact, streamlined design that execs as an EDC (every day carry) bag that can be scaled up for holding more gear when needed via the use of Savotta’s external attachment options on the bottom, front and via the side compression straps.

The Niukka has a full clamshell opening main compartment along with a large external zippered comnpartment, two smaller internal mesh pocketswith a d-ring attachment point, and a hydration bladder compartment and tube ports. The back is padded and supported with a thick and stiff closed cell foam pad, placed in an external compartment with hook-and-loop. The pad can be removed and used as a sitting/kneeling pad, and the compartment can be used for flat packed gear such as tarps.

The Niukka 20L while quite minimalist, provides a number of options when it comes to customization by the user, including:

• Adding elastic cord or packing straps to the bottom to carry rolled up clothing, gear or a sleeping pad.
• Adding elastic cord to the G-hook attachment loops on the front of the pack to carry lightweight gear such as tarps, ponchos or jackets.
• Adding a hip pack or pouch to the front of the pack by simply hooking it onto the G-hooks of the side compression straps.
• Using the side compression straps and webbing loops on the top of the sides to secure gear to the sides of the pack.
• Replacing the standard back pad with Savotta's sitting pad.
• Swapping out the G-hooks on the side compression straps for split-bar Side Release or Ladderlock buckles if desired.
